In the meantime (since November), I've been applying for a nomad visa to Malaysia (you can stay for up to two years, and apparently, there's no tax for residents), and accordingly, I'm sitting in the chat room with other applicants.
These bastards haven't approved anyone yet. They're sending my application back for the second time, saying that something isn't written correctly, or that the format of the document is wrong. Every time, they come up with new bullshit that they apparently desperately need, which for some reason isn't obvious from the attached resume/contract.
We exchanged some information in the chat. There are about 3,000 applications being processed (and not a single approval yet), and they're handling them with... two people! We figured this out because after the review, there's an email from the reviewing officer where you can ask questions, and we haven't encountered more than two of them.
In short, the nomad visa exists on paper (it was introduced in October this year), but in practice, it's some kind of pyramid scheme (you have to pay $250 for the application, wtf)!
