#KualaLumpur
Malaysia's city center. It has the highest number of skyscrapers per meter, lots of shopping centers, offices of major companies, and luxury residential complexes. Walking around it is a pleasure: there are not too many cars, the sidewalks are decent, and there is an elevated walkway from one end to the other. Compared with Bangkok, it is night and day.
Sometimes it feels like there are disproportionately fewer people here than skyscrapers, and that is partly true. In the 2000s, the center was overloaded with constant traffic jams. So the government funded the construction of residential districts farther from the city center. And, in general, it worked: the number of people living in the central area dropped several times over. Now COVID has added another layer, with most employees switching to remote work and not exactly burning to come back. Whether so many skyscrapers are needed now is a rhetorical question :)
