But unfortunately, I've also found quite a few downsides for myself:

But unfortunately, I've also found quite a few downsides for myself:
❌ Urban environment. Most of the buildings in Taipei look terrible. This is a fact, and there's no way around it. You'll have to walk along dilapidated fenced-in sheds. On the streets, you'll be constantly surrounded by an endless number of moped riders and bikers. They'll park wherever they please, even blocking the sidewalk. On streets without sidewalks, you always have to watch out to avoid being accidentally bumped into. I want to tear down half the city and rebuild it properly.
❌ Nightlife. Taipei is dead at night. There are a few markets, but I'm not a fan of kebabs grilled in unsanitary conditions. There are few bars. All kinds of restaurants and tea houses close at 9-10 PM, and there's hardly anywhere to hang out late at night. The streets also empty out in the evening - there's no trace of the crowds you see in Korea. Overall, there are far fewer people living here than in Seoul.
❌ Climate and air. Taipei is located in the subtropics. This means the air here is humid, and summer is hellish. Everything is also overgrown with mold, there's a ton of mosquitoes, and impenetrable jungles instead of forests. Personally, I don't like this - I'd rather have the Korean and Japanese cold than +30 degrees for half the year. The air here is bad - there were many days when the AQI was 100 and even higher.
❌ The backwardness of many systems. There are still many places where you need cash to interact with the government, you need a mailbox to deal with banks, and the banks are complete crap from the 90s, which aren't very good at interacting with expats. It's hard to work with foreign currencies.
