#Casablanca, problems with cats, and the indifference of local residents

There are a lot of stray cats in Casablanca. At first, it doesn't seem like such a big problem, but then you quickly realize that they're not being looked after at all. Many of them are thin and sick. They breed uncontrollably, roam the city, and defecate and urinate on any street. Add to this that Morocco doesn't pay much attention to city cleanliness, and it turns out that half of the streets are literally littered with waste products. It was a shock for me that even at cultural sites, there might be a huge trash bin, with a pack of cats nearby, and a hellish stench from a mix of rotting waste and cat feces.

Do Moroccans really find it normal to live like this? Well, apparently yes. According to my observations, even when walking their own dogs, they don't clean up after them - if the dog poops on the sidewalk or in a park, the owner generally doesn't care. It's like a mindset that animals can do whatever they want on the street, and no one is responsible for them.
