One of the curses of Korea is the monopolization of the market.
In an effort to ensure the competitiveness of Korean companies in global markets, the Korean authorities actively subsidized "family businesses" - chaebols, guaranteeing them cheap loans in exchange for industrial development.
As a result, companies have turned into multi-sector conglomerates, producing absolutely any product in Korea. Walking around the city, it's not hard to find manholes made by LG, houses from Samsung, or the office of a telecom operator from SK, a company that also produces chemicals.
