As you move further away from the center, the stone buildings give way to brick, and instead of European-style houses, you find more classic American apartment buildings, which are more reminiscent of Philadelphia than France.

These types of neighborhoods are another unique feature of Quebec. In other Canadian provinces, they have long since been demolished, but here, entire blocks have stood for over a hundred years.
