On the weekend, we tried to visit the DMZ. Why 'tried'? Because we decided to go without a tour, and only on the spot did we realize that you can't get into the hyped up part with a view of North Korea without a tour group, which you need to book in advance 😣
Therefore, our trip was limited to the part that you can visit independently - a small piece on the other side of the river, where the US military camp used to be. (Formally, it's still a South Korean zone). There, we visited the Korean War Museum, the border guards, and the terrifying mine markings, of which there were so many that it seemed they were specifically made for tourists.
Overall, the place is definitely cool, and I'll definitely go there again properly someday. The biggest downside is that it takes at least 1.5 hours to get there, and by public transport it takes even 2.5 hours.
